2. Quotations & Estimates
2.1 Providing a Quote
Urban Locksmithing will always provide a quote or confirm the expected cost before commencing any on-site work. We will not begin work without the Customer’s agreement to proceed on the quoted terms. For larger or more complex jobs, we are happy to attend site and provide an obligation-free written quote.
2.2 Quote Validity
Written quotes are valid for 30 days from the date of issue unless otherwise stated. We reserve the right to amend a quote before work commences if material circumstances change, such as site conditions differing from those described at the time of quoting.
2.3 Variations During a Job
Where the scope of work changes during a job — for example, if additional issues are identified once work has commenced — we will advise the Customer and obtain verbal or written agreement before proceeding with any additional work or charges.
3. Invoices & Proof of Purchase
A tax invoice will be issued following completion of all on-site services. Invoices include our business name, ABN, date of service, a description of work completed, materials used, and the total amount charged including GST.
For invoices of $75 or more, a proof of purchase will be provided automatically. For invoices under $75, Customers may request a receipt within 7 days of the service date.
Customers may request an itemised bill showing a breakdown of labour, materials, and individual charges within 30 days of the invoice date. Itemised bills are provided free of charge within 7 business days of the request.
4. Accepted Payment Methods
Urban Locksmithing accepts the following payment methods for on-site locksmithing services:
- Cash: accepted on site
- EFTPOS: mobile card terminal carried on all service visits — Visa, Mastercard, and debit cards accepted
- PayID: available on site
- Bank Transfer (EFT): available for all customers on request. EFT details are provided on your invoice. Payment must be received before any outstanding balance is considered settled.
Payment is due upon completion of work unless alternative terms have been agreed in writing prior to the job commencing. We do not require payment before commencing standard residential or commercial callout work.
5. Callout Fees
A callout fee applies to all on-site service visits and covers the time and cost of travelling to the Customer’s location. The callout fee is charged regardless of whether work is completed, unless Urban Locksmithing is unable to attend due to an error on our part.
Current callout fees are set out on our Locksmithing Services Pricing page. Callout fees are confirmed at the time of booking.
6. Deposits for Larger Projects
For larger installations, master key system design, commercial projects, or jobs requiring the special order of non-standard parts, a deposit of between 30% and 50% of the quoted price may be required before work commences or parts are ordered. The deposit amount will be specified in the written quote.
Deposits are non-refundable where work has commenced or parts have been ordered specifically for the Customer’s job, unless Urban Locksmithing is unable to complete the work for reasons within our control.
7. Parts Sourcing & Collection
Where specialist or non-standard parts are required that are not carried in our mobile workshop, any time spent sourcing or collecting those parts from suppliers is billable at our standard labour rate. We will advise the Customer before undertaking parts sourcing and provide an updated estimate of additional time and cost.
8. Customer Availability
Customers are responsible for ensuring an authorised person is present and available at the booked time and location. Where access to a property is required, the Customer must ensure access is available at the agreed time.
If our locksmith attends and the job cannot proceed due to customer unavailability, access issues, or a change of mind after our locksmith has departed for the job, the standard callout fee applies in full.
Rescheduled appointments are treated as new bookings and may incur an additional callout fee.
9. Commercial Accounts
Urban Locksmithing works with a range of commercial clients including businesses, property managers, strata managers, schools, aged care facilities, and local government. Commercial account arrangements are available on an informal basis and are extended at our discretion based on the nature of the engagement, consistency of work, and payment history over time. We do not require formal credit applications.
We offer two tiers of commercial account terms:
Standard Commercial Account — 14 days from invoice date Available to commercial clients once a working relationship has been established. Invoices are due within 14 days of the invoice date unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Preferred Commercial Account — 30 days end of month (EOM) Extended to clients who have demonstrated consistent use of our services, a reliable payment history, and an established working rapport with Urban Locksmithing. Under EOM terms, invoices issued during a calendar month are due by the last business day of the following month. EOM terms are offered at our discretion and may be reviewed if payment performance changes.
New commercial clients are required to pay upon completion of work until a standard account arrangement has been agreed. Account terms are reviewed periodically and Urban Locksmithing reserves the right to revert a client to stricter payment terms or payment on completion if invoices are consistently paid late.
10. Late Payment
Invoices not paid by the due date will attract interest at 2% per month, compounding monthly, calculated from the due date until the invoice is paid in full. This rate is disclosed here as the applicable rate for all Customers under these Terms.
Late payment charges are intended to recover reasonable administrative and holding costs associated with delayed payment and will be applied fairly and proportionately. Urban Locksmithing may also recover reasonable costs incurred in recovering an overdue debt, including administrative time, debt collection agency fees, and legal costs, to the extent permitted by law.
Urban Locksmithing reserves the right to withhold further services from any Customer with an outstanding overdue invoice until that invoice, including any accrued interest and recovery costs, is settled in full.
11. Overdue Accounts & Debt Recovery
Accounts that remain unpaid 30 days beyond the invoice due date are considered seriously overdue. At this point Urban Locksmithing may take one or more of the following steps without further notice:
- Issue a formal overdue notice with a final payment deadline
- Refer the outstanding account to a debt collection agency
- Commence legal proceedings through the courts of Western Australia to recover the outstanding amount
Reasonable recovery costs — including debt collection agency fees and legal costs where applicable and permitted by law — may be added to the outstanding balance and become payable by the Customer.
Urban Locksmithing will always attempt to resolve payment issues directly and reasonably before escalating to external recovery. Customers experiencing genuine payment difficulties are encouraged to contact us promptly to discuss a resolution before the 30-day overdue threshold is reached.
Urban Locksmithing reserves the right to report accounts overdue by 60 days or more to a commercial credit reporting agency. Reasonable written notice will be provided before any report is lodged.
12. Invoice Disputes
Customers must raise any dispute regarding an invoice in writing within 5 business days of receiving the invoice. Disputes should be directed to:
- Email: office@urbanlocksmithing.com.au
- Phone: (08) 6107 8698
We will respond to all invoice disputes within 7 business days. Disputed amounts are not required to be paid pending resolution, however any undisputed portion of an invoice remains due by the original payment date.
13. Workmanship Guarantee
All on-site locksmithing work carried out by Urban Locksmithing is backed by our 12-month workmanship guarantee. This applies equally to residential and commercial work, regardless of job size or value.
For full details of what is covered, what is excluded, and how to make a claim, see our Workmanship Guarantee page.
14. Australian Consumer Law
These Payment Terms do not limit or exclude any rights the Customer has under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL) or any other applicable legislation. Where our services fail to meet consumer guarantees, the Customer may be entitled to a repair, refund, or other remedy as appropriate. For further information, visit accc.gov.au.
15. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of Western Australia. Any disputes arising from these terms or from on-site services provided by Urban Locksmithing will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Western Australia.
